A Word from Ann Jackson O’Sullivan:

Several of our class were fortunate to attend the Ceremony in the soon to be renovated Alumnae Hall where Mary Rosenthal Lefkowitz was honored with a 2008 Alumnae Award.

Pictured at the Reception in the Lulu Wang Center were Mary in the center with Peggy Flowers Norwood to her left and Nancy Aitken Senger to her right. Behind from the left are myself, Jane Douglas Moore, Martha Stanton and Jean Speare Canellos. Mary Wallace Davidson also attended the Ceremony.

I hope classmates, eager for yet another return to campus, will consider taking advantage of this year’s Summer Symposium to be held June 2-5. In Her Own Hand: Women Writers Then and Now will explore poems, essays and novels of the 19th and 20th centuries. In past years some of us have stayed for the whole week, others just for a day. Regardless, 57’ers have always had great fun!

And for the many hoping to get together with classmates off-campus, be assured that your class officers are starting to plan one or more mini reunions. We will be meeting this spring to toss around ideas for exciting things to do and exciting places to go. The exciting people – all of you- are a given.

Please check out the latest report on the use of the 1957 Green Fund!! You can find it by clicking on Useful Information and then on the Green Fund Tab. You will be so pleased to discover the thoughtful and important ways our contributions have been put to work.

The Green Folder has a new look; it will be divided into two sections:

  • News about the College’s use of the 1957 Green Fund
  • Our own contributions and news about sustainable projects. The first entry, Killowatt Saving Tips, has been submitted by Jane Bindley. You are encouraged to submit your own ideas to Jane who can be reached at janebindley@gmail.com.

The Photo Gallery has been upgraded and now has three sections. Your reunion and post reunion pictures are badly needed!!! Either email them to Betsy or mail them to her at P. O. Box 1970, Southern Pines, NC 28388. Please add captions for the photos. Your pictures will be returned!
